Marriott Al Forsan, Abu Dhabi, has launched a pet-friendly outdoor terrace at Appaloosa Sports Bar, allowing pets in a designated al fresco area. This initiative follows recent Abu Dhabi regulatory updates that permit hotels and restaurants with tourism licenses to welcome pets such as cats and dogs in approved outdoor settings, marking a notable change in the emirate's hospitality landscape.
The timing of this launch coincides with the rise in pet ownership in the UAE, with an estimated 1.5 million pet owners and over two million pets nationwide. The trend is increasingly influencing lifestyle, leisure, and tourism choices. By allowing pet access in outdoor dining venues, Abu Dhabi aims to present itself as a more progressive and inclusive destination for both residents and visitors.
“With more residents and visitors viewing their pets as part of the family, we are pleased to introduce Appaloosa’s pet-friendly terrace,” said General Manager Catalina Susan, Marriott Al Forsan, Abu Dhabi. “This offering reflects our commitment to evolving guest expectations while aligning with new hospitality guidelines in the emirate.”
Open daily from 12 PM to 2 AM, the terrace features shaded seating areas and fresh water bowls for pets, creating a welcoming atmosphere for casual dining and sports viewing. Guests can access this pet-friendly area directly through the hotel’s back entrance.
Marriott Al Forsan’s initiative responds to the growing demand for pet-friendly hospitality options, which are becoming essential as guests seek venues that promote both social engagement and pet comfort. The hotel is dedicated to enhancing its leisure offerings while adapting to changing consumer preferences.
“Allowing pets in outdoor hospitality environments enhances Abu Dhabi’s appeal as a modern, lifestyle-driven city,” Susan added. “We look forward to welcoming residents and visitors from across the UAE to enjoy Appaloosa with their pets.”
