DUBAI, UAE — In June 2026, Kima Izakaya celebrated its one-year anniversary, having opened its doors with the aim of creating a restaurant experience that reflects the needs of its founders, Tastil Gonzalez Moure and Pawel Kazanowski. Their vision was simple: to build a place where top-quality food is paramount, accompanied by genuine service and an atmosphere that invites visitors to linger without worrying about their budget.
After years in the hospitality industry, Gonzalez Moure and Kazanowski recognized a deep-seated yearning for a type of restaurant they found lacking in Dubai. They sought not just any dining venue, but a spot they would regularly visit on their days off - a relaxed environment where good food and vibrant companionship flourished.
“The best meals we’ve had in our lives weren’t always in the fanciest restaurants. They were in places with soul, personality and people who genuinely cared. That’s what we wanted Kima Izakaya to be,” they shared. This philosophy is deeply reflected in Kima's offerings, which prioritize quality ingredients over extravagant aesthetics or marketing gimmicks.
In its first year, the restaurant has established itself as a beloved addition to Dubai's culinary landscape. Signature dishes such as Beef Tataki, Yellowtail Jalapeño, and Salmon Aburi continue to delight patrons, alongside comforting staples like donburis and gyoza, designed for sharing amongst friends and family.
The establishment has fostered a strong sense of community, with regular visitors and local suppliers coming together to support its mission. Kima Izakaya’s approach to dining has not gone unnoticed; just eight months after its launch, it won Time Out Dubai’s Best Budget Restaurant award for its dedication to accessible yet exceptional dining experiences.
Located at the Podium Level of Cluster R in Jumeirah Lake Towers, Kima Izakaya remains open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 12 PM to 11 PM. For reservations, guests can call 04 420 6555.
As Kima Izakaya continues its journey, the founders remain committed to their vision, ensuring that the restaurant remains a warm and welcoming space for all who visit.
